The festival "Les Déferlantes d’Argelès-sur-Mer" has now permanently replaced ’les Méditerranéennes’ and will take place for the second year running in the magnificent grounds of Chateau Valmy, with events also on the beach and in Argelès village.

This years headline artists are Simple Minds and Duffy. The complete line up features rock, French and English variety, world, blues, hip-hop, électro and even a special rock concert for children...... in fact something for everyone!

U2 play the Nou Camp in Barcelona

U2 kick off their 100 show world tour, officially named U2360, on Tues June 30, 2009 at the Nou Camp stadium in Barcelona, playing a second Nou camp show on Thurs July 2nd. The tour is U2's first since the Vertigo tour in 2005. U2 have recently released a new album "No Line on the Horizon".

The tour will feature a 360 degree round stage as well as a cylindrical video screen, a first for large concert venues and a layout that will increase the possible capacities of each performance.

Ryanair.com will close for a 10 hour period from 19:00hrs Wednesday 24th June 2009 until 05:00hrs Thursday (25th June) due to essential upgrade maintenance.

In order to avoid any inconvenience, web check-in passengers travelling on Thursday 25th must ensure that they have checked in online before 18:00hrs Wednesday 24th June. Ryanair’s website will not be available for any passenger bookings or other passenger services from 19:00hrs due to these upgrade works.

Passengers who booked flights on or before the 21st May and selected to use airport check-in will be unaffected and can check-in at the airport as normal.

New Bus Route! Perpignan to Barcelona (BCN) airport

From Saturday 11th July - Sunday 30th August

FROGBUS.com are pleased to announce a new daily bus service between Barcelona international airport (BCN) and Perpignan. This new service will run initially for the 6 peak summer weeks (11th July - 30th August) with stops at Le Boulou and Girona airport.

A new early morning service will depart Perpignan train station at 03.55, arriving at Girona airport at 05.15 and continuing to Barcelona airport arriving at 07.00. Departure time from Barcelona airport is 09.30, calling at Girona airport for an 11.15 departure and continuing to Le Boulou and Perpignan.

Adult tickets are priced at €23 one way, (Perpignan train station to Barcelona (BCN) airport), children under 14 tickets available at €15 one way.

La Trobada in the Pyrenees Orientales

A lovely tradition to celebrate the Summer Solstice of St Jean around the 22nd June is the meeting of Catalans from both sides of the Pyrénées on the summit of the Canigou.

Troops of walkers and representatives of villages and towns throughout Catalonia, meet up on the Plateau des Cortalets, where they set up tents and prepare for a sleepless night!

Congratulations to USAP on winning the French Top 14 Rugby championship final! In a thrilling match on Saturday evening in Paris, the Perpignan side defeated Clermont by 22 to 13.

The city of Perpignan witnessed incredible celebrations over the weekend as fans enjoyed winning their first Top 14 championship since 1955.

More than 25,000 fans welcomed the team at the Castillet in Perpignan last night with the Top 14 Bouclier (Shield).
