The Canigou Race - Vernet les Bains

Sunday August 2nd

Stepped in history, this mountain race in the Pyrenees Orientales was revived in 1980, and each year since then, the event has been held on the first Sunday of August. The event is open to both walkers and runners and follows a circular route over a distance of 30km, with 2,100 metres (nearly 7,000 feet) of ascent.

Competitors set off from Vernet-les-Bains, pass close to the Mariailles refuge, head for the summit of the mountain, then descend to Vernet down the north slope of Canigou, past the Cortalets chalet. Not for the faint hearted!

Les Méditerranéennes de Leucate 2009

Wednesday 5th - Friday 7th August 2009 - Plage des Mourets, Leucate

The Mediterranean music festival, originally held in Céret, then at the Parc de Valmy in Argeles sur Mer, followed by the beach at La Franqui, Leucate in 2007, will this year take place at the plage des Mourets, Leucate.

Introducing a cocktail of talent, both new and established artistes, rock, pop and reggae, the festival looks set to once again to offer a rich and varied programme.

Leucate is 20mins north of Perpignan / 20mins south of Narbonne / 1h30 from Girona/ 1h20 from Montpellier / 2h from Toulouse / 2h20 from Barcelona.

New Route for Girona airport to Oslo

Ryanair has announced that, from October 2009, it will open seven new routes to/from Oslo (Rygge) Airport (approx 50kms south of Oslo) including a new route to Girona airport.

Ryanair’s seven new routes from Oslo (Rygge) to Alicante, Barcelona (Girona), Brussels (Charleroi), Bremen, London (Stansted), Madrid and Milan (Bergamo), beginning in October, will deliver over 500,000 passengers p.a. and sustain 500 new jobs in Oslo (Rygge) Airport.

Le Tour de France arrives in Perpignan city centre on Wednesday 8th July around 17h.

Le Tour then re-starts from Girona city centre at midday on Thursday 9th July taking a route along the Costa Brava coast to Barcelona.

NOTE ! Please be aware that due to traffic restrictions and road closures in both cities there is a possibility of delays on our Perpignan to Girona airport bus services on both these days, particularly during the afternoon of Wednesday July 8th.

This yearly bullfighting festival is a huge event in Céret and indeed in the whole of the Pyrénées-Orientales, but be warned; It is not for everyone!

New Bus Route! Girona airport to Argelès sur Mer

FROGBUS.com is pleased to announce a new service linking Argelès sur Mer and Girona airport with an express bus service, via Le Boulou.

The service will run 4 times in each direction every Saturday from July 11th to Aug 29th. Click here for timetable details.
