February and March see carnivals all over the Pyrénées-Orientales – fancy dress, street parades and fireworks, singing, dancing.....along with the symbolic burning of evil spirits!
The towns of Argelès-sur-Mer, Banyuls sur Mer, Prats-de-Mollo, Amélie-les-Bains, Arles-sur-Tech, Les Angles, Céret and Le Barcarès are particularly well known for their annual 'Carnavals'.
