A long tradition celebrating the Summer Solstice of St Jean will take place this weekend with the meeting of French & Spanish Catalans on the summit of the Canigou, the highest peak in the Pyrenees Orientales.
Groups of walkers and representatives of villages and towns throughout Catalonia, climb to the peak of the Canigou (at 2,784m high), bringing with them bunches of wood (fagots) to contribute to the huge bonfire prepared on the summit. Tweet this!
