Carnaval 2010 at Argelès-sur-Mer, Pyrénées-Orientales

Argelès-sur-Mer holds one of the biggest Carnavals in the Pyrénées-Orientales. This year's week long festival kicks off on Saturday 27th February with the selection of Miss & Miss Baby Carnaval.

Don't miss the spectacularly colourful main parade which takes place in the centre of Argelès on Sunday 28th Feb at 15.00, while the nighttime version is held at 21.00 on Saturday 6th March.

Barcelona Restaurant Week, eat for charity!

Barcelona restaurant week combines the experience of enjoying Barcelona's top restaurants with a charity donation. Barcelona's top restaurants have prepared specific menus for €25 total, with €1 going to charity.

The nominated charities are the Spanish Heart Foundation and the Once Guide Dog Foundation.

Argelès-sur-Mer : Déferlantes 2010

The dates and headline acts for Déferlantes 2010 at Argelès-sur-Mer have been confirmed. Iggy Pop, Deep Purple, Suzanne Vega and Patti Smith are among the many acts performing over the weekend festival.

Held in a natural amphitheatre at Chateau Valmy overlooking Argelès-sur-Mer and the Mediterranean, Les Déferlantes has become one of the premier events of the Pyrenees Orientales summer season.

Remembering "La Retirada" in the Pyrénées-Orientales


19th - 21st February 2010

In 1939, over 500,000 republican refugees escaping the brutality of the Spanish Civil war arrived in the Pyrénées-Orientales, and were housed in temporary camps at Argelès-sur-Mer and St Cyprien.

This weekend sees a continuation of a series of commemorations for the 60th anniversary of 'La Retirada' with events being held at Argelès-sur-Mer, St Cyprien and Collioure.

New French Route for Girona Airport


Ryanair have announced a new route between Girona-Costa Brava airport (GRO) and the French city of Poitiers, starting from June 2010.

Girona airport now has 3 direct French routes - to Paris Beavais (BVA), Lille (LIL) and Poitiers (PIS).

Only 80km from the French/Spanish border, Girona airport is also extensively used as an entry/exit point to the Pyrénées-Orientales area of France. I'm reading: New French Route for Girona AirportTweet this!

Contemporary Dance festival in Toulouse


C'est de la Danse Contemporaine !

This is the last weekend of the contemporary dance festival in Toulouse which has been running since the 21st January to critical acclaim.

International dance artistes will perform their final shows across many of Toulouse's famous theatre venues.

King Tutankhamon in Perpignan!

New route between Girona airport & Poland


As part of further European expansion plans, Ryanair have announced a new route linking Barcelona Girona (GRO) with Gdansk (GDN) in Poland.

Scheduled to start on the 3rd May 2010, Girona now has direct flights to 3 Polish airports. (Poznan [POZ] & Wroclaw [WRO] also available)

Hot baths in the snow in the Pyrénées-Orientales!


Hot thermal spring baths, famed for their therapeutic & healing qualities have long been associated with the Pyrénées mountains.

Check out the open air thermal baths at St. Thomas les bains & the newly opened thermal resort at Matemal (beside Les Angles ski resort).
