Perpignan Marche de Noël (Christmas market)

Barcelona Christmas market - Fira de Santa Llúcia
Barcelona is famous for its Christmas markets, the best known of which is the “Fira de Santa Llúcia” which opens on the 3rd December. Located close to Barcelona cathedral (map here) this market dates back to 1786 and now has over 300 market stalls offering Christmas fare every year.

The multilingual Barcelona International comedy festival is taking place in the last 2 weeks of November in ten different venues across Barcelona with comedy acts from all around Europe.

Toulouse short film festival - Séquence Court-Métrage
The Toulouse short film festival - Séquence Court-Métrage - starts this weekend and runs until the end of November at venues around Toulouse.
Films are screened mainly at the Toulouse "Cinémathèque" and the ABC cinema, but also at other venues in the Midi-Pyrénées region. The films cover all genres and they compete for a variety of prizes offered by the Festival.

L'Alternativa 2010 - Barcelona
Check out the largest independent film festival in Barcelona, called L'Alternativa, which promotes new directors and alternative independent films.
This year over 2020 titles from 79 different countries will be shown.
The films will be screeened at various venues in Barcelona including CCCB, Los cines Maldà, FNACTriangle, Institut Francés and Casa América.

France strike info - Airport blockades expected today at Toulouse, demonstations in Perpignan
Expect disruption at French airports today with union groups blocking access to several major airports, including Toulouse (TLS), in the continuing industrial action over the pensions reform. Other strikes planned over the weekend seem less certain to go ahead at this point.
Girona airport routes which overfly France could experience cancellations and delays as a result of the action in France. The best advice is to check with your departing airline & airport before travelling.
