L'Alternativa 2011 - Barcelona & Perpignan

8th & 11th - 19th Nov 2011

During November check out the largest independent film festival in Barcelona, called L'Alternativa, which promotes new directors and alternative independent films.

The films are screeened at various venues in Barcelona including CCCB, Los cines Maldà, FNACTriangle, Institut Francés and Casa América.

Fira de Mostres 2011 - Girona

28th October - 1st November 2011

Check out the Fira de Mostres in Girona this Halloween weekend where more than 100,000 visitors are expected at the 50th annual edition of this traditional fair.

 

Sample local produce, attend a cultural workshop or choose a new interior design - there will be something to suit all tastes in the 50,000 sq metres of exhibition space.

Foire Saint-Martin 2011 - Perpignan

29th October - 27th November 2011

Traditionally starting in the last week of October and continuing throughout November, one of the oldest travelling fairs in France makes it's annual visit to the Parc des Expositions in Perpignan.

The Foire Saint-Martin brings you all the fun of the fair - big wheel, ghost train, candy floss, dodgems - there's something for all the family!

Fête des Vins primeurs 2011 - Perpignan

Thursday 20th October & Saturday 22nd October 2011.

From 19.00 onwards on Thursday 20th October, 'L’Association pour la Promotion des Vins du Roussillon' invites you celebrate the new wine harvest in cafes, bars and restaurants in Perpignan city centre.

On Saturday 22nd October the festival proper takes place between 11.00 and 18.00. In addition to lots of street entertainment, the streets of Perpignan will literally flow with wine!

Girona history museum - Guided tours - 'Bombs over Girona'

Girona's history museum is offering a guided tour this weekend at 11am on Sunday morning (16th October) of the air-raid shelter at the 'Jardí de la Infància', titled 'Bombs over Girona'.

The tour starts from the Girona history museum (map here) and takes around an hour and a half - advance booking is recommended. Further details available from the Girona tourist office website.
