Largest Ice Skating rink in Europe opens in Barcelona

Barcelona has a new attraction this Christmas, a covered ice skating rink in the heart of the city at Cataluyna square (map here), which is being billed as the largest ice rink in Europe. The rink is open until January 8th and is funded by the retailers association who aim to make Barcelona an international reference point for Christmas shopping like Paris, Milan or New York.

Fridays, Saturdays and public holidays: 10:00 to 23:00
Sundays; 10:00 to 21:00
Christmas Eve: 10:00 to 20:00

Santa Claus in Andorra !

Girona film festival 2011

Check out the 23rd annual edition of the Girona Film Festival which is being held this week - 97 films to choose from! This is one of Cataluyna's best known film festivals and is designed to give local film directors the opportunity to showcase their films, share experiences and encourage creativity.

The two main venues for the festival in Girona are the Albèniz Plaza cinema complex (Jordi de Sant Jordi Square) and the Casa de Cultura cultural centre (Hospital Square). Click here for more information from the Girona tourist office website.

Fira de Santa Llúcia 2011 - Barcelona

Barcelona is famous for its Christmas markets, the best known of which is the “Fira de Santa Llúcia” which runs from the 26th November to the 22nd December.
